2 I'm interested to see if nurses from the midwest are planning to go to work tommorow-big snow storm is in effect.I'm a home health nurse and I have a couple of patients tommorow and will do a lot of driving,I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my visits:////
No, I won't be going.

I'm a supervisor for a large OB unit in the midwest. I'm the only leadership person still here. I feel like one of us needs to stay to make sure the night shift comes in but as I watch out my office window I am frequently having 2nd thoughts. No job should include packing extra undies just in case you can't go home.

Thank God I got off work at 7 am this morning and have the next 4 days scheduled off. Since I only live 2 miles from the hospital and have 4 wheel drive I know they're going to call me to come in. I would work my days off if they paid me time and a half but they won't do that.

i'm cancelling mine/

Not scheduled. Offered to come in, but no one called.

I am not living up North anymore, but the last blizzard I was in, the hospital said if I couldn't come in, they would sent a helicopter and pick people up. They did manage to send out 4 wheel drive trucks to pick us up. But, I wouldn't have put it past them to send out the chopper.

We have about 6 inches now, and expect another 11 ito 17 inches overnight and yes, I will go in tomorrow.

tiroka03---a HELICOPTER!!??? WO!!!I'm per diem and told them "sorry", I live too far and the plows/ sand will NOT be able to even begin doing the side streets that I'd need to take (i don't DARE take the slippery highway!!!) . I hate that they can spend money on things for the administrative personnel, (oooh, let's buy them all new desks!!!) yet they REFUSE to pay for agency to care for the PATIENTS' LIVES!!!!I always wonder, what do facilities so when there just are NOT enough nurses/ aides? I have some guilt, and I'm VERY sad that some of our patients in Depends aren't going to be changed/ turned as much as they should But it's like people said on a related thread, if I have a horrible accident, is my employer doing to help me???? NO!

I'm in the region predicted to get 24-34 inches. We already have a nearby hotel with 5 rooms reserved & staff already packing into those rooms. Our local EMS/fire department has already promised to get the group back and forth the 2 miles from hotel to faciility if they can't get back and forth on their own. Luckily, I got to go home. Some of us got sent home with anticipation of the scheduled staff are going to need to have a couple days off after the storm to re-coup. Hope everyone stays safe!

I work at a school that is notorious for not calling off for snow. If tomorrow isn't a snow day, I'm going to work.

I live in Canada, and my work is over an hour away.I have told them that if the roads look bad in the morning I wont be going in for my night shift tomorrow.
