Any runners out there who work 3 12's???Rating: (votes: 0) I find it so hard because after being on my feet all day I have no desire to run, and after 3 days in a row I'll be lucky if I can walk the next day. I am exaggerating a bit haha. I just ran a couple half marathons this month and I really want to train for a marathon. I don't run on consecutive days (I WILL get injured and sidelined if I try!) so it can get really tricky figuring out maintenance runs, long runs, etc. Add to that some overtime lately. I just wondered what worked for any others out there. Happy Running!!! One of my coworkers, former special forces/navy seal type, runs 10k every day. Personally, there are mornings it's all I can do to get to my truck and face the long drive home. Comment:
I'm a runner and I work 3 nights (12s). It is definitely a challenge trying to keep up with my running because night shift just sucks the life out of you. But, it can be done. I don't run as often as I'd like, but I fit it in. I run about 3-4 days/week, although I prefer to run 5 days a week.

I work nights so I get up at 4pm and run then. Try getting up uber early and run when you're fresh. The rest of your day will be your cool down. If you keep up on your off days you would only need to do that once a week.

I work 3 night 12's and run 6 days. On work days, I love, like PP, to get up a bit early and run before showering/getting around for work. I don't do distance >5k on work nights though. Sometimes I do speed intervals on work days for a good burn. What marathon are you looking at?

That's what I've been thinking...I think I'm going to start getting up before work. Especially with the weather already getting hot here in FL. I can stand to run a short run before or after work but it's fitting in the long runs that I worry about.

I think I might do the Space Coast marathon in November...there aren't many in the summer here because it's so hot. I have run some disney races though and had a lot of fun so we'll see. Did you find it tired you out at work or gave you more energy when you had to get up to run before?

When I was a runner, I used to get up at 4:30 am and run before work. I found it gave me energy to start the day. I could never have come home after working a 12 and had the energy to run.

I just finished 8 straight 12's in a very busy ER. What's the problem?Work hard, play hard. I have a week off...I use to wear a pedometer. Each day I averaged 5-6 miles. Consider it training.
