Any Ideas For Celebrating Nurses Week?Rating: (votes: 0) We have about a hundred employees...60 are RNs. I would like to include everyone in some way...including the Unit Sec's. We work 12's (7-7), and need to get something together that would work with both shifts. I am not even sure if my director will allow a budget for me (ice cream social, maybe some small gifts for a drawing??) I want to make it special....this will be our first celebration of it's kind!!! ![]() Thanks for your help! The best nurses day appreciation I've experienced was when our Manager paid for massages for all the nurses. It was a piece of heaven, and since one of our part time RNs was also a massage therapist, he gave a discount, so it wasn't that expensive for the 30 of us. I would also suggest a manicure or pedicure- some way to pamper yourself!! Only nurses/CNAs were included though, since the Ward Clerks were recognized on Secretary's Day. A gift card to just about anywhere is good too. Most of us weren't interested in ice cream socials or similar things at work. Comment:
I am basically against all nurses week celebrations. Showing thanks and appreciation should be an on going thing not just once a year. It is used too often to appease nurses for the other 52 weeks of abuse.

Quote from James HuffmanHowever ... institutions that employ lots of nurses know that it's cheaper to hand out Snickers bars every May rather that deal with the nurses realistically on pay.
