Transition from IMCU/Tele to Med/Surg

I am going to start traveling, and there is an attractive offer to do Med/surg, but all my experience is in intermediate care (IMCU)/Tele for 3 years. Is it totally different or will I be fine? What ratios are you used to?

I would like to ask you all how safe is LA metro going in and out of work? Is it the same as NY and Chicago mode of transportation, I just accepted a job in LA but my driving is not great, Your response is much appreciated.
