Is nursing is not anything but a glorified CNA position?Rating: (votes: 0) ![]() "Why would you want to be a nurse? It is not anything but a glorified C.N.A. position, and why should someone beg anyone to clean incontinence?" Do you feel that the profession of a nurse is just a glorified certified nursing assistant? Yes, No and/or discussion..... My vote -- NO That statement is so far out in left field, I'm not sure what discussion there is to be had.....who made it? Comment:

Oh boy, this is gonna be a good one If anyone has to even entertain this statement, they should not be here on allnurses.

No! I'm a CNA and I feel this comment is a hit on CNA's along with nurses. After working as a CNA for two years, I know how important we are to the nurses. People and patients respect this job just as much as they do nurses. I am a nursing student and am very happy with my decision. I was in the design industry for a few years out college the first time around, and never felt the same respect or as satisfied with my work as I do now

i'm with the one who says that if you are even asking that question, you don't belong here. (and my opinion: may be a troll)geddouttaheah.

I am asking all of you guys to not make this thread into another RN v. CNA debate. We are all part of a multi-disciplinary team with ONE focus-our patients. They don't care whose job is what...they just want to be taken care of.Please refrain from bashing. We all contribute heavily to the wellness of our patients. Each member is an integral part of the health care team.

It's time to get out the popcorn and enjoy the show again...But for the record:Professional nursing includes the role of the CNA (yes, cleaning up stool and urine) ... and other things as well. Patients need the kind of hands-on physical care that includes hygiene and any nurse should recognize that providing such a service is a noble undertaking. If that is what the patient needs, that is what the nurse should do -- AND BE PROUD OF IT.Of course, the nursing role includes many other functions as well. But then, so does the role of the CNA.Both roles are honorable, valuable, and worthy of respect.

I just gotta say that if there's begging for cleaning up going on on a regular basis, pretty soon there's gonna be mandatory wound prevention inservices.

Sure it is. And all CNAs should be able to petition to take the NCLEX. I mean, come on, if you can take a blood pressure and wipe a bottom, you can surely do everything LPNs and RNs do. Heck, We should even be able to practice medicince, since really, a doctor is just a glorified RN.
