Nervous! Giving notice today and immediate manager is not in but assistant is! Help

1 Ok, so some of you read my other posts...I am giving notice TODAY. My immediate supervisor is NOT in (of course, that's my luck). But my assistant manager is. I HAVE to submit this thing, because my new position starts in about a month, and I need to give them one month's notice. I am so nervous, my stomach hurts. Please tell me it will be ok. I feel so bad...but I am so excited for my new position, it is going to open so many doors for me! I am just scared..need some encouragement.


Don't feel bad for doing what's right for you! You are giving plenty of notice. No need to feel bad. Good luck to you today and congrats on the new job!

Congrats on the new job! Feeling bad about leaving for another position is normal. All will be well when you start the new job. Good Luck!

Write a lovely resignation letter. Date it for 30 days. If she is not her not there, oh well. Good luck!!! Where are you going? :heartbeat

It's just a job. Next month you'll be working another.

You are giving a months notice.. What's the big deal if you give it to her in a few days? You already have the new job.. Its not like you need this place for a good reference..(Yet).

Hello, thanks for the encouragement. I believe in NEVER, EVER burning bridges...the nursing community is big, yet small, and you never know who you may run into professionally. I just feel nervous, can't help it. I know I'm probably making a bigger deal than need be. It is my first time giving notice to a job, so I guess that 's why. I think too, it's because they are very short staffed as it is, and I (think) I am well liked by the staff, so I don't know. Mixed emotions. BUT HAPPY AS HELL I'm LEAVING!!!

Burning Bridges is very bad... but then again some could say the same about typing/texting at work.

I am facing the same issue. I have to give a one month notice as well because i start a new position in may. Although i love my current position, this new position works out so much better for me and my family. I don't even know how to begin to write a notice letting them know that i will be leaving soon. But at the end of the day we all have to do what is best for us.(that goes for you too). This new position may open up even more doors for you so i say go for it. After all we're nurses, it's good to experience as much as you can. I think all will go well for you . Good luck.

I just went through that today!! Have your letter ready and just do it!! You will feel better. Congrats on the new position.

Only one sugestion. Make it clear what your last day to work will be. Some places say a week is only 7 work days which could be up to 2 1/2 weeks in real time.Best wishes on your new job.
