Nursing as a first degree

Was a nursing degree your first or only degree? Im having trouble decideing what i should do. I'm not sure if i should get a bachlors in another field and try for nursing later down the road. The wait time even to get into the program is long and there is no guarentee you will even get in. Im thinking about getting a bachlors in Business administration than going back in about a year for my lpn. What did you guys do?
Did the ADN route, and never looked back- and never needed to. If nursing is just a second thought, why do it? Just wondering

I want a guarenteed degree to fall back on and help with employment in case nursing doesn't work out for me. plus I dont want a bachlors in nursing. At the most just an adn. It's hard to explain i guess.

Workin' on my ADN right now. But seriously, don't even bother with nursing unless your heart is 100% in it. The pre-reqs alone are just too demanding unless you have a real hunger for that RN light at the end of the tunnel. And remember that if you really do want to be a nurse, there is no "in case it doesn't work out for me." If you want it, you can and will make it happen. But make sure you're committed because nursing school is a jealous lover.

went straight in to do my bsn after highschool....still doing it now. Ill be still very young when I qualify so then hopefully I can specialise Ive always been the quieter type, caring and kind ( dont get me wrong Ive got my downfalls too) and love science, so nursing was something I've wanted to do for a long time

1st degree... going for my ADN and then BSN, and hopefully MSN. I'm 32 and ready to start my career now that my kids are all in school. As others have suggested, don't even try nursing unless you are 100% sure.

While I knew I wanted to be a nurse, nursing is my second Bachelors degree. And even though I loved my Sociology classes, I never planned to work with that degree (and I'm sure I will NOT love paying back the loans for it). Figure out what you want and go with it, unless you've got time and money to waste

If you knew that you wanted to be a nurse may I ask why you went for another degree? Was it for the same reasons as myself?

Went straight from high school into a BS-Nursing program and never looked back. If you aren't sure, and see nursing as a "maybe-sorta" type of job, I don't think you'll find the studying or career fulfilling, imo. Best to you as decide. And oh---some nurses get a dual degree in business admin and nursing--I think it's at the master's level, so that might be an option?

Did a Theology degree first. But nursing is my true love...
