Nursing Jobs that allow you to work from homeRating: (votes: 0) I am just wondering if anyone knows of any nursing jobs that allow you to work from home. I am a utililization review nurse and spend 8 hours a day on the computer and I am desperartely looking for a job that will allow me to work from home. any suggestions? I've done some prelim searches on that myself. The best luck I had was putting in an RN + case management search on some job search engines, and there were a few agencies and companies that said you would have a home based office. Blue Cross occasionally does this, I'm told. No opportunities in my area, but you might do a 'net seach and see. The only ones I found I would've had to move to Ohio or Minnesota or some place like that. I couldn't see moving hundreds of miles just to work from home. LOL Comment:
I am working from home as a medical transcriptionist. I "fell" into the job buy I have found it VERY easy and actually the pay is better than when I was a nurse. I know that most of the time you need some extra training. There are some RN-MT programs. I didn't take one but am also transcribing a specialty that I did as an RN.The most important part is the medical terminology, typing skills, and a VERY good sense proper grammar.

What training do you need exactly to become a medical transcriptionist?

I am interested in part-time work from home in the evenings, transcription would be great, also phone triage. Any suggestions about how I might look for this type of work.

Quote from RN4NICUThe training is a certificate program you can do from home, BUT it doesn't guarantee you a work-from-home position upon completion. Many places require you to have in-house transcription experience before they will accept you to work from home. It's just whether you are lucky enough to land the job you want.

If you are interested in medical transcription check out this website michele @medical-transcriptoin-at-home.com Also, Mediquest in an online MT company which hires new MT's. I you don't have to take a class to work for them. There are some other good reference sites, but I'll have to reference them myself. I contract with a company, CHCS, in Florida and do in-home assessments prn. If they have an assessment in my local area, they call me to see if I'm available. I wish I could find another company such as this one. They contract with insurance companies. Any other advice someonen might have?

I've done hours and hours of research on work-from-home employment opportunities. I just knew there had to be something out there. So, here's some findings: CHCS in Florida and LifePlans in MA - contract with these agencies and do in-home assessments for insurance companies. Also, Unival does facility credentialing - just contracted with them and completed telephonic training. Long Term Care Alliance does risk management and provides flexible work-from home employment. Nurse's CareLink is another agency which does nursing assessments. CareScout is another agency which you may find interesting. It takes hours to finally find some of these great opportunties. I've been doing assessments routinely this past week and it is great to have a flexible work-from-home schedule. If anyone has any other names of places to contract with, I'd sure like to know. Otherwise, I'll keep searching - you do the same. Maybe we'll find some more treasures. Keep smilin'..... Hope to hear from someone soon.
