Civilian Nursing...where do i start?!?!?

Rating:
(votes: 10)

Hey guys, I graduated this past spring with my LPN and will go back to school to finish my RN starting fall of 2012. I am really interested in civilian military nursing. I have no military background and have no direct family ties to anyone in the military but I am VERY interested in learning more about civilian nursing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I don't know much about it and don't know where to start looking or who to start talking to!! Please help...I would love to look more into it!!!
There is an entire sub-forum dedicated to military nursing: http://allnurses.com/government-military-nursing/

Comment:
You could try to apply to the VA, or go to www.usajobs.com to look for nursing jobs on military installations. The VA hires new grads but military hospitals tend to look for experienced RNs with 2-3 years of experience under their belt. Good luck!
