Nobody is hiring...stuck in job I hateRating: (votes: 0) first off, be happy you are employed, many are not. make yourself stand out and as marketable as possible. join professional nursing organizations, especially those that pertain to the position that you are seeking. write a unique cover letter for each facility that you are applying to. take some ceu classes at a local community college to show that you are a self-motivated learner who will pay out of pocket to improve your practice. lastly, go on for higher education to let future employers know that you are not stagnant but are a professional looking to improve her practice. Out patient surgery, as in working in the OR? or Recovery? Most people go the OR's in out-patient after they have been in a regular hospital OR. You might have a better chance looking at PACU in OP, then when you get your foot in the door maybe you can learn to scrub.Good luck

I understand your frustration, with that said you do have a job. I have been an RN for about a year now and I have had one interview, which I did not get the job. I am so frustrated at this point I want to walk away from nursing. I have sent out tons of resumes, I get silence in return. I don't even have the year experience everyone wants. Just hang in there, it will come. At least you have a paying job in your field. I can't even pay my student loans. I spent thousands and thousands of dollars and years working my butt off to graduate and got one interview in a year. Be super thankful you have that job and you have some experience. You'll get to your goal, it will just take longer than you want but I'm sure it will happen for you.
