Confused a/b Nursing Program Accreditation

When I was in undergrad, I never knew that some programs weren't fully accredited! Luckily my program was accredited, but I know of many nurses who were put through the wringer because their program wasn't accredited. How on earth can a program run and not be fully accredited? Anyway, now that I'm thinking about entering a MSN program, I am checking out the accreditation, but I must admit that I don't know what type of accreditation to look for. Do I need to ask my BON what proper accreditation is for my state?
yes, and for any other state you think you might move to. a bunch of those for-profit online schools are not accepted by every bon.
