Looking to get back into nursing

Hello everyone,

I have been out of work for about 7 months now and I am looking to get back into the nursing profession. After leaving my last job, I was considering of leaving nursing and switching careers. I was planning on working in a job outside of nursing while going to school. I wasnt able to find a job for all this time. Im wondering what do I say to the person hiring me as to why there is a gap in my work history. I dont want to mention that I was thinking of leaving nursing because I dont think it sounds good. I have moved and was thinking I could say I was looking for a position but didnt find one I was interested in. Also, when sending out a cover letter, should I mention the reason for not working. I have a good amount of experience in the specialty I am looking to work in again and I dont want my unemployment to deter me from getting the job. Any suggestions/tips will be greatly appreciated.
