Does the school I go to realy matter?Rating: (votes: 0) Becoming a nurse is something I have always wanted to be. I have decide to go to a four year college to get my BSN but my question now is, does it matter what school i go to. Does it make a difference if I go to a CSU instead of a UC? As long as it's an accredited nursing program, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Make sure the program you choose is accredited by either the NLN or the CCNE. If you're planning on working close to home, then it could be better to choose a more recognized school. Some hospitals/facilities may favor applicants from one school because they know the quality of the education that the students receive. I'd suggest asking around and seeing if you can find out if one school has a really great or really bad reputation. Comment:
It does not matter to future employers because by the time you meet them you will be out of school and have a license. It may matter to you regarding quality of education, convenience, cost, etc. MANY excellent nurses came out of community colleges but the trend now is towards a BSN so consider that if possible

Nope, doesn't matter at all for employment. It may, however, matter if you plan to proceed with your nursing education through the ranks in the future. What school you went to may affect what school you can get into.

It matters in only one way of which I'm aware: That is, in which hospitals you'll do your clinical rotations. By far, the best way to get hired is to make an excellent impression during clinicals and preceptorships.CSU vs. UC... no difference at all, IMO... unless you're hot to be a researcher in which case the UC schools are a better choice.

Nope.

As long as whichever school you go to is accredited for nursing, that's all that matters.

I like to think it matters. But I'm not your hiring manager.
