If you could do it all over again would you choose nursing as your career?

Talking to alot of the nurses in my hospital, if they knew then what the know now, they would not be nurses. I was a bit suprised to hear this. Anybody else feel this way?
I personally would prefer to be a mega millions lottery winner (but I am silly that way).

Nursing was a second career, and thanks to AN I think I went in to it pretty eyes open. So yes, I'd pick it again.

I would be a pharmacist or psychiatrist

Comment:
Yes I would.. Some days are so bad I ask myself "why" but I have to say I have so many more good days

Having spent the last 5 yrs earning my LPN, RN, and now, my BSN, I'd choose this field again.....if it was actally possible to get a nursing job. At the moment, I'm considering "retiring" because my self esteem can't withstand much more callous rejection from the cold-hearted HR professionals.

Comment:
No I would not. Easy answer.

Comment:
I would probably just go to PA school or stick it out through med school.

Comment:
No. If I had known that my professional integrity would be impacted by know-nothing bean counters and that I would be abused and blamed; instead of respected and consulted, I would have become a hotel desk clerk.

Comment:
No, No a thousand times no.

Yes I would choose nursing all over again ! There is nothing more I'd rather be. I think the key is balance. Many nurses don't have a balance and can get easily fustrated with nursing. On my worst days I have questioned my ability to continue nursing, then I relax, take a breath and realize God destined me to do this. I also love being a nurse !

Yeah, it's something to do until Hugh Hefner kicks. Then I want his job. Wouldn't mind Donald Trumps job as long as I can keep my charm and don't have to wear a beaver on my head.
