20 All the technological advancements, all the miracles of modern medicine, all the scientific innovation. And ultimately we can't save people from themselves.
YUP, they are their own worst nightmare. slam dunk, three points for you, you get it!

It's the nature of the human condition. Not sure if I would ever want to be saved from myself What would that entail exactly?

Agreed....but do we have the right to?

You've latched onto a Truth. My doctor recently went out of her way to thank me for being a wonderful, compliant and easy to work with patient she's had and simply because I followed the care plan. I was stunned for a moment that it was even something to bring up, much less get praised for.

A wise NP once told me we can't care more about the patients getting better than the patients care themselves.

F R E E W I L L.We get to make our own choices. Even when they're wrong.

I agree completely!

If people didn't make poor health choices, I wouldn't have a job helping save them from the effects of a lifetime of those choices.

Without too many details, worked our collective butts off to get a patient discharged. Now she's not showing up to outpatient visits and being noncompliant with critical meds. *sigh*
