Do I need to stay in nursing school to become a bionalyst?

I'm currently in the associate degree of nursing. I just started this semester but I'm not really liking it that much and I really do not see myself doing this for the rest of my life.I really was not sure about what to study when I started taking the prerequisites but I decided nursing for several reasons that I now think that are stupid if I really don't like it that much. Since high school, I've become really interested into studying to be a bioanalyst but I wasn't completely sure at that time. I don't know if there is another name for this professional (bioanalyst) or another name for the degree, I just know that it's the professional who tests the stuff that is sent to the laboratory. I was told today by one adviser that maybe that degree is related to nursing but he was not sure because they don't offer that specific degree at my college.
I have a friend who lives in Spain studying medicine and she told me that over there in Spain apparently you need a nursing career to be a bianalyst. I would like to know if this is the same in the United States.
Does anybody know if a nursing degree is really required if you want to be a bioanalyst? Or is that field just related to biology instead of the health care? I researched online but there is nothing helpful about this degree, and I can't find almost anything about it, maybe it has another name but I've always heard of the term "bioanalyst".
