Precepting Gift?Rating: (votes: 0) Thanks I got my preceptor one of those willow tree angels that said thank you, a key chain with her initial and several bic 4-color pens (she loved them!!). For other clinical instructors we (as a group) had done coffee mug, gift card for Starbucks/dunkies, candy, a build a bear dressed in scrubs, a Vera Bradley wristlet, and a charm bracelet with nursing charms.. There were 3 of us that went to school together precepting on the same floor. We all went together and got an edible arrangement sent for the floor since all the nurses really worked with us and were so kind. I also sent my preceptor a nice card with a small gift card in it.

Precepted in a small ICU, so I bought bagels for the morning and had cookies/pastries to snack on the rest of the day for the whole unit. For my actual preceptor, a thank you card and movie tickets for her fam to see a movie that she mentioned they wanted to see...

My last 3 precepting students gave me 1) an expensive baby outfit and stuffed animal (I was 37 weeks pregnant when she finished) 2) gift certificate to a nice restaurant and 3) gift certificate for a pedicure. Loved all three gifts, and loved "my girls." Precepting a student is a gift in itself, but I appreciated the thoughtfulness. I sent them on their way with a promise of a good reference any time and things like monogrammed clip boards, monogrammed pens, nice hand cream, and compression hose (a running joke with one of them). All 3 of them also brought something for the whole unit, like cupcakes or doughnuts, and boy did that earn them some good will!

a bouquet of pens would be nice to have at work. Gift cards are really nice. To tell the truth, a card is sufficient

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I will definitely be sure to get something to leave in the break room that day. I hadn't considered that.
