What places do nurses work 12hr shifts?

Hi guys,

I'm a new grad and I'm just wondering what types of facilities outside a hospital can I find a job working a 12hr shift? Not too sure of many places but I've been unsuccessful getting a job In the hospital; I'd like to look into wherever I can work 12hrs a day because I loathe the 5 day a wk schedule!!!

Many nursing homes offer 12-hour shifts on the weekends, which enables the Monday through Friday staff to have every Saturday and Sunday off. Some of these facilities even offer 16 hour weekend double shifts.A number of inpatient hospice houses offer 12 hour shifts, or you could work continuous care hospice cases that last 12 hours (or until the patient dies).Some private duty companies will assign you to cases that involve 12 hour shifts.Also, some psychiatric hospitals staff with 12-hour shifts. Some jails, prisons, and rehabilitation facilities use 12 hour shifts.

Many clinics offer 10 hour shifts.

I used to work at an urgent-care clinic that was open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. The hours were nice because it wasn't the typical 7 to 7 shift change... but commuting in the mornings was bad because of traffic. You were also guaranteed day shift, since it wasn't a hospital. As the only RN at the clinic, you would have to be there to open up, as well as close everything down. But I'm sure there are plenty of different options out there... you just have to go searching.
