1 Have anyone had experience on taking care of suprapubic catheter? I have a friend who had an initiated suprapubic cathether insertion last Tuesday. He developes light infection reaction around the incision. I expect that happen but I don't how long it would last and how can I take care of that. The hospital he went for surgery was very good except for one thing. They didn't give any information on how to take care of it. I have no experience on suprapubic catheter. I tried to google it and there isn't much information Neither. Please help me! Thank you very much in advance.
suprapubic catheter care is not complicated, but you may want to contact a urology office and speak with their nurse.Good luck!

Comment:
In general SP catheter care is very similar to any indwelling catheter care. You want to prevent infection by keeping the stoma site clean. This includes washing the area daily and wiping down the catheter to keep bacteria from traveling into the bladder. Clean the catheter by wiping away from the stoma site. All questions regarding possible infection or site specific care need to be addressed with his doctor.

Agree with Dolce. we generally apply triple antibiotic ointment around stoma site bid too. check with the doctor .

When the patient is getting dressed, where does the tubing go? She likes it to go up over her waistband. Doesn't the tubing have to stay below the stoma site?
