The beauty of nursing : midweek camping hiking boating skiing no crowds!Rating: (votes: 0) Yeah, thanks for rubbing it in. I traded in those 12's years ago, I thought I was all that `cause I'd be M-F, 8-5, no weekends, no holidays, no on-call, no one barfing on my scrubs or pulling out my hair with a King Kong drug-induced grip. Yep, I showed you, now I get to look forward to a salary, at least 60 hrs/week, and the same $ (less shift differential). Dang I'm smart. Woot. Comment:
Yes, next week we are taking a Monday through Friday vacation and I only have to use 12 hours of PTO and we'll avoid the worst of the crowds

I love my 3 12's !!! Yeah, sometimes I get tired of them, but I also love having so many days off during the week.

Midweek skiing is the best. But seeing as it's summer, we're heading to the beach now.

I love it. Can go shopping without battling everyone, can go places and it is not super crowded with everyone and their third cousin twice removed LOL

Youth has it's advantages. Try 12 hour night shifts with an hour's drive each way when you're on the far side of 50. It's not all cake and ice cream then!

I'm well past 50. Bracing for the big six-oh in a few.

I do like the shifts and can't wait to be done with orientation so I can go back to my night shift 3 days a week. I do like the 3 days a week + self scheduling so I can schedule myself Saturday, Sunday, Monday, go on vacation Tuesday or Wednesday then come back and work Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

I'm crossing my fingers for a 3 12's job to open up some time soon! HATE working 5 8's on nights.

@ Seattle: I work 2 12s back to back, Sat/Sun PMs. I am also within barking distance of age 60. I've been doing this for 12 1/2 years & have no problem with it. The best part of all is driving home on Monday morning when everybody else is dealing with Blue Monday & I get to sing to myself, "It's the weekend, baby!" Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha.
