Trying to build a career..

I am hoping to get some good advice here. I was a CNA in a hospital for nearly four years. I left under good terms to care for my aunt. She passed away and I went onto private duty care.

I am hoping to get into a large children's hospital as a Clinical Assistant. I have experience albeit not with peds. I did interview with this hospital about two years; it was clear during the interview that another candidate had been chosen. I felt like I was there as a "we have to interview someone from the outside" candidate. Still, I wrote thank you notes and kept up with the recruiter. The recruiter has since left.

How can I make myself stand out as a candidate? I ultimately want to get into Child Life. Thanks for any and all advice...
