what was the hardest nursing class you took?Rating: (votes: 0) As in grades and comprehension or personality type clash?Psych clinical was very hard for me, I was an immature 21 yr old in a teen unit. I got an A based on assignments and tests but I loathed going because I had no idea what I was doing, it was terribly uncomfortable for me. I'm remembering the night before anxiety. But comprehension difficulty, if this doesn't include pre req's, I think research. I understood the theory but I had no inspiration., my project had no meaning for me. It was just a tedious assignment, if I could do it now..Much of it was due to my age and maturity at the time. I could memorize anything and I tested well, I was just so emotionally young with minimal life experience and it came out when we went beyond tasks. Comment:
My hardest has been Med/Surg learning all the fluid imbalances, electrolytes, acid bases, assessments and interventions for each one. It's a lot to take in! Big exam on it next week.Pharm was also difficult but I passed with a B+

Med-surg II. I was suddenly faced with a demanding, strict clinical instructor on a post-surgical cardiac unit. To say I had not been sufficiently prepared for that experience would be an understatement. We lost quite a few of our classmates that semester. Luckily, I survived and was much smarter, in all ways, for Med-surg III.

Med surg II Resp. And GI. Psych clinical I hated ! PEDs was also hard for me.

None of the nursing classes were particularly difficult IMHO. I was able to maintain good grades while working full-time. In fact, I thought the nursing coursework was relatively breezy compared to the science prerequisites. On the other hand, I struggled with a few of the prerequisites. A&P I and microbiology were challenging for me, but not as challenging as remedial math.
Comment:
Agree with Commuter. My pre-requisite chemistry was much more challenging than any of the nursing courses I took during my BSN.
Comment:
Pediatrics, because I wasn't into it. I passed by only 2 points.

I also had a hard time with peds, but because working with sick kids got to me a little too much. The classes that took out the most students were Fundamentals and Maternal-Fetal. Fundamentals's failures were probably because of the reality shock that is nursing school. Maternal-Fetal's failures were mostly women who had gotten a little too cocky--they thought that because they had given birth before, the class would be a piece of cake. They were proven wrong.
