Nursing schoolRating: (votes: 0) A little background about myself- I am 23, and I have a 6 month old daughter. I have always been interested in pregnancy, and labor and delivery. After having my daughter it sparked my interest even more, so I decided to go for it. Thanks for any advice!! Well, there are no guarantees. There are parts of the country where new grads are facing stiff competition for entry-level positions. It may also be difficult to find an L&D job right out of school -- again, lots of competition in some areas. You might try posting in the forum for your state and inquire about the job conditions there.Overall, though, if you're flexible in terms of job type, location, and shift, nursing's probably as close to a sure thing as you're going to find in today's turbulent economy. Comment: Welcome to allnurses.comGood to have you with us. I moved your thread to the Nursing Career forum for a better response.Good luck with your nursing career plans and we hope you enjoy the site.Comment: Hi and welcome,Will you be getting your LPN? I didn't think they are still doing diploma RNs but maybe I'm wrong. Are you sure that universities will take your previous work toward their BSN? If so, I'd go for it. In my area the demand for nurses is huge. Many hospitals will still hire LPNs but it can be tricky to get in a specific area so if you heart is set only on L&D you may have to wait until you get your ADN or BSN. Good luck, Jules
