Thinking of switching to nursing

I am new to this site. Hi Everyone. I am a mental health professional thinking of switching over to being a nurse.

I have painful heel spurs. My one question I need help with. ... how much time do you spend on your feet as a nurse? I mean, do you ever get to sit down or would I be on my feet all day? I need to be able to sit down sometimes. This is an obstacle for me. I have a lot of energy and enjoy running around, but I can't stand on my feet for hours at a time without getting to sit down.

Not sure if this is where I ask the question. But appreciate any help.
Thanks.

busymomt, I am not a nurse or anything, I am just a sophomore in highschool. However, from my personal experiences and observations, nurses often endure long periods of being on their feet. You may get a few minutes to sit down, but it wouldn't be a really long time. It really all depends on where you work. An ER might be different than working in a nursing home. I'm not sure! Maybe someone with experience will reply and give you better insight. Also, the night shift would probably get more 'downtime' than during the dayshift. I believe it would all depend on where you decided to work at.
