Hi everybody,I just wanted to ask for advise...I graduated 1999 was able to work as a nurse for almost a year in 2004.since then i wasn't working and just recently, i passed the nclex exam.I have plans of applying in a hospital now.

My worries are: will i be able to go back and will hospital hire me since i've been out of nursing for 4 yrs?

Please help need all your suggestions and advises......
I'm not understanding how did you work as a nurse before if you only recently passed NCLEX.If you just recently passed NCLEX, then apply for GN/new grad positions. You might have to explain the length between graduation and passing NCLEX, but you still should be able to get new grad jobs since you passed NCLEX.

At least in my area of the country Peds is a difficult area to get into without Peds experience- it's just too easy to kill a kid when you are thinking it adult terms. I bet if you applied for adult med-surg, off shift you will have plenty of nibbles. A year in practice reapply for peds if that is what you want. 4years out isn't too long- honestly 80% of what we do is common sense coupled with a pinch of educated creativity and time management. Any area you start out in is going to have it's own learning curve. If you managed to pass NCLEX I don't think you will have any more problems than any other new nurse. Good Luck!!!
