Nursing + Magic = ?

I joined this forum in hopes someone can give me the career guidence I have been longing to seek. I have been nursing over 2 decades (the past decade I have been strictly agency) and have a skill I always wanted to incorperate into my nursing practice but never figured out how. I am a ventriloqust and magician and always wanted to use this in my nursing practice (insert your own joke). I never figured out how to do this: teaching, holistic nursing, speaking, palliative care, et al...

Can anyone here suggest how I can combine my nursing skills and entertainment to make a fulfilling practice?

WOW! That's fabulous! It must be such a fun and creative outlet for you. Have you considered working pediatrics? I know that in chronic situations - such as peds oncology - there is a dire need for methods of communication that are targeted to kiddos. One of the most effective is the use of dolls to help them understand what is happening or to help them express their own fears. It seems to me that your 'special' skills would be wonderful in this setting. Most peds settings also have formal programs for play therapy and this may provide an opportunity also, but the ones I have seen are usually organized and run by Play Therapists. LOL - does ventriloquism work on the docs and hospital administrators? Getting them to say the things that we need to hear?
