Insurance company nurses

Hello:

I am interested in getting into an insurance company for a career, but so far have been having a hard time finding these types of jobs. Any suggestions (I live in Milwaukee, WI).

You know, i've seen ads on careerbuilder for these jobs. It seems they want you to have quite a bit of experience, like in case management or critical care prior to hire. The ads also request that you have good computer skills. Also try looking on the actual insurance company websites under "careers". Good luck to you.

Deals with case management for worker's compensation claims. No weekends, no nights and no holiday work I worked from home via my computer with about 50% travel within my state. All was reimbursed plus mileage. You are very independant in this type job with lots of autonomy. Cold call them as they usually dont advertise positions and sometimes not even on thier own site.Another to check is Humana as they do alot of case management also.
How much experience do the insurance companies require you to have prior to hiring you? I've was an LPN for 2 years, Now I'm an associate degree Rn for the last 2. I have no case management experience; only med surg floor nursing. I am decent with computers, and type very well. Any advice?
LuckyDuck,My advice is to apply for any job that interests you. You won't know unless you try and some places are willing to train. I've worked for two different insurance companies as an RN Case Manager and they both definitely hired people without experience and trained (me for instance in one of them!)Focus on your excellent computer skills and willingness to learn and you may have a chance. I am seeking to work directly with some insurance companies, maybe even worker's compensation claims. I need to get some benefits. Wondering if anyone has any new information regarding insurance companies which hire in Virginia. Thank you.
