getting into nursing school

Hi,

I know that you need a really high GPA to get into nursing school. But i also hear that you need to have some work experience in a health care setting.

I dont have any work experience...but i did volunteer at a hospital in high school...so if i start to volunteer at a hospital again would that count at some work experience?

Would that give me an advantage of getting into nursing school??

thank you!
It all depends on the program. Mine didn't require or give any extra points for working or volunteering at a hospital.
Comment:
My nursing school required that you already be licensed as a CNA before acceptance into the program and have a minimum 80% on the TEAS test.
Comment:
Some schools require or prefer students with experience, some don't. Look into it. Mine didn't, thank goodness, since I went straight from high school to college. But regardless, any experience is better than none even if it doesn't count on your admission papers.
