What can I do before I start school?

Hey guys.

I'm applying to nursing school for the Spring of next year. I'm going to have all of my general education classes out of the way by the time I'm admitted. Does anyone have any advice on how I could get into the field before then? I'm really eager to start clinicals so I suppose I'm wondering about shadowing. I don't think hospitals will just let you volunteer... =/

I'm in the Charlotte, NC area but any general advice would be helpful in how to go about getting early experience!

Why don't you become a CNA. Some NS require that before admission anyways. That will give you a way to get your feet wet. Being hired in a hospital or a nursing home would be a good jumpstart.
