A couple of random questions about nursing (bear with me).

1 Can male nurses become midwives?

If so, are they still called midwives are midhusbands? Can guys work in OB/GYN as nurses?

Yes they can and are still called midwives (the origin of the word means "with woman").Yes also to male OB nurses.I've worked with both a male midwife and several male OB nurses. I found them to be excellent care providers, probably since one would need to be really interested in the specialty to overcome the prejudices concerning them entering the specialty.
I find the replies to this question offensive. You should be ashamed. I understand this forum is for the benefit, mainly, of practicing, knowledgeable nurses, and should be geared towards furthering their interests and experience. But as a recent addition to this forum without the vast experience of other members, please give us some slack if we ask what you consider stupid questions.

Oh - I did not intend to direct this at you Chloe! This question was fully answered, and may even have been totally stupid! I only wanted to voice my frustration that some people may consider themselves beyond the approach of true novices - even those who do their due diligence on Google! Thanks!

I was just asking this question out of curiosity and figured this would be a good place to ask it since it is a nursing forum, ya know! ;DOf course I could have googled it, but I wanted subjective answers from people hence the "bear with me" part of the topic title.
