First yr. nursing student here just offered a position as a cna working at a hospital. Great experience and I have heard it will help you get a job after graduation. The job only pays 9/hr and while I need the experience, I also need money to pay rent/bills. Would a cna job that works at a patients home, and pays more, be equivalent to a hospital cna work to a potential employer? If I take the job I would probably work one 12 hr shift a week and then get something else such as working with kids with disabilities which I've done the past couple yrs. My questions are basically should I hold off for something else, seeing as this was the first interview after applying to 30 hospital jobs? Does the cna job only really get you a job in the hospital where you work? It's not the same hospital that my clinical are. What else is good experience while in ns that would be good experience on my way to rn and eventually crna? What about volunteering if I have the time? Any advice is helpful.
