Need help making career decision

Hi everyone,

I graduated in May with my BSN and haven't found a job yet. A few days ago, I was approached by a close friend of the family with a terminal case of cancer and she asked if I would join her family as their nanny, with good pay and benefits. I'm only concerned because I don't know if I will get a job in 2, or so, years if I am an RN who hasn't practiced in the hospital since school. I was thinking about working at a rehab center or nursing home on the weekends and some nights when I was not helping the family, just so I can keep practicing and stay on top of my game. Being it's been 6 months and still no job, it's not that I am desperate, but this is a good financial opportunity as funds are running low.

With the current economy, sounds like you have thought thisthrough. If you take the nanny job, you can also work part timefor a nursing home or rehab as well. In todays market you need toconsider your current needs, so good luck to you.With time the job market will change and you can match upwith a specialty that you enjoy.
