Mayo Clinic Reality

I work for a very large healthcare system in Utah and I am very disappointed in the career support of nursing in this healthcare system. I am looking for a place to have a career for a long time.. I want to know the reality of working for the Mayo Clinic,

I watched the Mayo Clinic nursing recruitment video and I am wondering how much is true...

Do the patients actually come first, meaning is their adequate staff to provide hight quality safe care?

Do the nurses have a voice, do the nurses receive support,

Do the nurses actually have cna/tech support?

Are the nurses actually able to practice nursing as we were taught in school?

Do we have time to engage in evidence based nursing etc??

Does the Mayo Clinic send out yearly surveys to their staff?

Sorry for all the questions but asking the above questions to recruiters you typically do not get honest detailed answers.
There are wonderful hospitals out there that isn't necessarily the mayo clinic. I work for a hospital in GA where nurses do have a voice, we are adequately staffed, we do get yearly evals to fill out, etc.... you just have to find a place like that.
Comment:
Mayo Clinic is THE BEST. I have had three nursing jobs and varied clinical experiences alike. Mayo treats nurses like professionals. I am so proud to call myself a Mayo nurse. It is not easy getting in. I think a lot of people are worried about their grades and such. I was a summer III. I did not have perfect grades. What I think they really look for here is character. I had my manager tell me once after I was hired . . We can teach you the skills; but what we can't teach you is how to care for people, have courage, and a willingness to learn. I think that statement says volumes about what they look for in a candidate. The answer to all your questions is YES! Especially that the patient does come first, which is most important. I actually find it scary to imagine working at another hospital now because the safe environment at Mayo is far ahead of everyone else it seems. My favorite part of my job is that everyone loves being at work . . not just me. Even "bad" days are good days at Mayo because the teamwork is awesome.
