Phone nursing as first job?

I'm a new grad and I have an opportunity to take a phone nursing position. I would much prefer a position with direct patient contact, but with the job market the way it is, I'm wondering if I should take this. I'm concerned that it's not going to be considered "real" experience in a year when I try to move into a hospital or other care position, though. Plus I don't think it will help me develop any of my skills, and I'll lose what little skills I have.

How would I be perceived if I work there for a year? Would it help me at all or would I be better off looking for a direct care position even if it takes 6 months?
Take it, and keep looking. Any experience is good for you. I don't think it will necessarily help you get a hospital position, just like home-health is totally different than acutes. It def won't hurt you though.BTW, what company? Do they pay well? Do you have to work out of an office?
Comment:
It's in an office and the pay is average for a first job.
