Anyone have experience w/ nursing in the military?

I'm getting ready to take the NCLEX, and had given thought to doing nursing for the military.

I enlisted already having my BSN (dumbass, I know) into the reserve (AF). Ideally I guess I'd like to remain in the AF and do it for them, but I don't really care what branch really.

Just wanted to hear from anyone who had experience in that, and what the pros/cons are to nursing as a civilian.

I think I'd like to explore the possibility of a conditional release from my contract once I get my RN license in order to pursue a commission, rather than try to apply for one while still enlisted (seems easier to get a commission from the outside).

If I have to wait for my contract to be over, I may not make the cut (age wise) anyway. I believe I'll be 31 by the time my contract expires

thanks

I would try to have a frank conversation with a military nurse at your nearest military installation. They can give you pertinent, up to date info.
