New Grad Needs Clinical Experience

Hi there,

I've recently graduated here in California which has a very tough job market (for grads). My passion is hospital, bed-side nursing, but I took a job as a school nurse because we need the money. Both a previous instructor and a recruiter have told me that, for a new grad, the school nurse experience will not help me get hired into a hospital at all. The recruiter actually told me that "it's a joke...." Do you agree that working as a school nurse will not be seen as relavent experience for a hospital? It's so depressing! Any feedback would be much appreciated.
