How to build up my resume??

I'm finishing my ADN program in the spring and am worried I am not an appealing candidate in Florida. I have thought about applying for a tech or CNA job a number of times, but decided against it as having a waitress job on top of school is hard enough to balance. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make myself more appealing for job applications?
