Nursing school but love diagnostics

Hi,

I started nursing school this semester after two years of my pre-reqs at a local community college and I love patient care, but in my attempt to find my niche, I realized I love doing diagnostics. I love when a person can come to me and tell me their signs/symptoms and get it right (ex: dx my dad with COPD a week before his doctor did). However, I don't think I have enough brain power to become a doctor even though I am succeeding very successfully in nursing school. Are there any fields within the nursing profession that would encompass something similar to this? I'm thinking nurse practitioner (eventually)?
