New Grad RN Residency Programs- Pay?

Hey guys! I'm just about to start nursing school for my BSN at Azusa Pacific, but I tend to be very proactive and I'm already thinking about possible job opportunities after graduation. I know that there are several New Grad programs, for example Stanford Hospital and Clinics has a 1 year long RN residency program. My question is, do RNs get paid during this year? Or is it like a year of interning/learning that goes unpaid because you're getting such great experience? Would love any insight from people! Also as to whether this is a good idea or not? Thanks!
yes, if it's a new grad program it is a paid RN job. however, if it is a externship/internship, the job is usually unpaid. right now, new nurses are scrambling to get whatever experience they can get. the nursing job market is especially tough in the San Francisco Bay Area but it's pretty much difficult for all of california right now. so yeah, getting into a New Grad RN residency program is one really great way to start your nursing career.hope that helps!
In my neck of the woods (not California) externships and internships are paid positions. So I guess it depends on the particular region and/or employer. It is always a good idea to actually check with the specific employer to be sure. Don't make assumptions either way as things like that vary from place to place.
In my area, there are 1 year RN Internships for new grads. They get paid the same as any other RN with no experience.
