Let's talk about the pros and cons of late BSN

Hi all!

OK so here's the deal.
I am an RN with 28 years on the job....mostly acute/high level of care. I love what I do, so that's not the issue. Right now I am a house supervisor who remains in and is activly involved in, helping staff thru critical issues or I do the things the don't feel comfortable in doing themselves, like drawing off a port etc. or trouble shooting an ART line even acting as RN in ED if needed.
So, if you did the math..i'm pushing sixty.
I feel really good enough and robust enough to go for another 5-7 years.
Whats your opinion on the "return on investment" for getting my BSN. I have my ADN...? So do I need spend the 12 k? when I am current on nursing trends, and have alreally many good critical thinking skills?

Unless you have a specific purpose in mind, such as a promotion or new job, where the BSN would put you into the running, I do not see the point. The only reason I would do it now would be if you have a burning desire for this achievement and even then, I can see better investments for that money. I would put it into the college fund of a grandchild, that is me.
I would just do the ADN to MSN option, skip the BSN. The return on your investment is going to be with the MSN, not the BSN. IMHO of course.
