Pre-reqs for Nursing school

Hello...just looking for some encouragement! I am a 42 year old mother of three who has wanted to be a nurse since I was my youngest daughter's age (6). I never pursued it because I was so insecure about my abilities in math and science. My husband has started encouraging me to return to nursing school (I have a BS in Child Development), but I am literally terrified of the math/statistics prerequisites I have to take before even entering that program! I know that sciences will be hard, but at least they're interesting and I can see how they apply. Statistics? Not so much....any words of advice...specifically about getting through that particular class? I've noticed on these forums that I won't be the oldest in class..so I feel better about that. Thanks so much. Can't wait to get this journey started.
You're in a whole different place now than you were - more focused, more in touch with yourself & probably more motivated than ever before.Don't be afraid of math or science. Take those classes at your local community college with a live instructor who is able to respond to your questions & clarify things that confuse you. CC instructors are generally more engaged in the progress and success of their students is their #1 priority. They are used to working with adult students & are very sensitive to the needs of 'school returners'.If it does turn out that you really are adverse to math and science, you can then look in other career directions, but give yourself a chance first.
