Purpose for word power point and excel in nursing

i am doing an assignment for school and i need to know what a nurse would use microsoft word, power point, and excel for. i have looked on google a dozen times and can not find an answer so i figured who better to ask then some nurses. any help that anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.
Um - the same things that 'normal' people use them for. Honestly, I don't understand the purpose of this assignment unless it is to get students to explore activities that nurses do. Nurses with administrative responsibilities use the same kinds of software that other 'office jockeys' use - as well as a lot of organization-specific applications. Nurses in staff positions may also be involved in administrative/operational tasks. Microsoft office seems to be the most commonly used platform... does this help?
