Which nursing assistant job would be best for someone new to being a NA?Rating: (votes: 0) *msicu/float *pcu/float *med surg/float *rehab/float *float ^^^ thoes are the options i have, which do you think would be the best floor? and what exactly does float mean? ( i have heard different things from different people and i am kind of confused) thanks guys!!:) I think they would all be great experience. If you are interested in going into ICU once you are done school I would start there as a NA. Sometimes you can get a job out of school on the floor you work on.As for "floating," this means you will work on a floor that there is need. Some people like to float because you get to experience different patient areas. You usually do not know what floor you will be working on until you get there unless you are filling in for LOA on a particular floor. Comment:
ICU for sure. I worked on an ICU step down unit prior to finishing nursing school. I learned a lot from nurses that I call back to memory when faced with similar issues. To this day I do not regret having spent time in an intensive care environment. But be prepared to work your rump off, if the place is anything like where I worked.
