Telemetry Nursing

1 Hi everyone! I am very excited to be here...I am a brand new nurse! I would love some words of wisdom from anyone who has some. I'm working on the telemetry unit and I LOVE anything and everything cardiovascular. As a new nurse on a unit as this, what advice could you give? I just bought a smartphone, are there any paticular apps to download that could help?

I appreciate anything anyone has to offer...thanks!!
I'm biased as being a medic before nurse, but learn your rhythms and arrhythmias cold. Then all your MI patterns. There are almost always interesting rhythms on the monitors. Good luck!

Epocrates is good for an APP.

Both my wife and I use Skyscape for our Blackberry phones. Through their portal you can purchase Davis' Drug Guide and dozens of other applications, plus you'll receive a lot of free apps too. We've never had a problem or complaint with the software or applications. They are very readable, fast to load, and tout great functionality. Believe me, my wife is a full-time nursing instructor, so we've tried several--Skyscape is the best. They are available for all smart phones and many other platforms too (iPad, Kindle, etc.). Check them out at www.skyscape.com.
