add future employer on facebook?Rating: (votes: 0) So heres the deal, I have been working as an LPN for about 1 1/2 years now, in the geriatric field of home health. Now the perfect opportunity has come my way, an opening in a pediatric emergency room! Not only have I always had a passion for emergency medicine but also childen. So you can imagine, I updated my resume as best as I could and wrote an extensive cover letter. I sent them via internet (as per hospital policy) and I went ahead and mailed a hard copy. I have tried calling to show up in person to introduce myself but they will not allow it unless I have an interview with the human resources director. Now the question of the century is... I found the human resources director on facebook! If I add her and send her a message introducing myself, would that come off as stalkerish or just very interested? I just want this opportunity so badly and I know that it is a job that I will enjoy sooooo much and get so much experience from! Please help me fellow nurses Lots of love ![]() xoxox My vote is NO - do not ever mix Facebook with a professional relationship. Especially the beginning of one! Many of the nurses on here will not even have a FB account because it leads to trouble. Comment:
I completely agree with orthonurse. It would be a bad idea to cross those boundaries. It's frustrating looking for work--especially when you've found the job you want!! Just keep it on the professional level and you'll get much farther. Good luck on the job, I hope you get it .

That's is a really horrible idea. Don't do it!

DEFINITELY not okay.

Nooo. Don't do it. The HR manager will think you're a creepy stalker. FB is too personal.

Hahaha..clinicalnursemiami..I'm sure a ton of people feel that way too! But yeah..it would come off as psycho-stalker-ish...I suggest not to.

Please do yourself a favor.....don't do it! It looks unprofessional and she might think you are a stalker!

I agree with everyone else. Bad idea.I understand your desperation though. It sounds like you've done everything you can at this point, and it's so hard to just wait. I really hope you get the job. Good luck!

Not OK, that's called stalking, unprofessional.

A sure-fire way to torpedo your application.

WOW! In all of the years I've been reading posts on this site, I've NEVER seen 100% agreement on an issue. I have to add that I agree with everyone else- ALWAYS keep your FB seperate from your work. Just keep calling them every so often to "check up" on the status of your application. I honestly believe that is how I got my first nursing job- I kept pestering the HR woman untill she gave me the job- I'm sure it was in part so I'd stop pestering her...BUT- I was the only one who had a full time job offer at graduation, so it must have worked. Good luck!
