Is it really this hard for Filipino nursing graduates to transition working as US RN?Rating: (votes: 0) US nursing grads are having a hard time finding jobs in this economy. So it's no surprise that an immigrand from the Phillipines cannot find a job. Comment:
Are you lacking a job or lacking confidence?

There are thousands of US nurses looking for work, as a previous poster noted. Did you come here without researching first? Below is a link that shows (if you scroll down) just what type of competition you are up against and that is just in one state. We have more than enough nurses in the US now and for decades to comehttp://www.nursing.illinois.gov/education.asp#RN

As the previous posters have already said.... there is NO nursing shortage in the USA. In fact, its the opposite. We have too many nurses now. I would look at other countries for better opportunities.

Okay when I posted this, I wasn't looking for more pain. I thought this site is supposed to encourage if not just be kind to all nurses without bias. I am an American too, I wonder if I'd mention that if I'd have gotten more consideration than slapping me with get out of our country we don't need you kind of answers.

You entitled your thread.

People are only responding to what you said in the thread you started. Nobody can tell you what doesn't exist, exists. Unless you want to hear that tomorrow you will find everything to your liking. It is the same for everyone.

at least people are being honest with you the fact that there is no JOBS here is because we are still in a recession and hospitals will only hire the best of talent in the healthcare field !

There are jobs for new grads but you just need to be very flexible. It might not be the specialty you want but a job is a job. You might also need to move for opportunities.I don't think I can emphasize this enough but new grads also need to network. Join a non-profit organization, join a nursing association, attend events catering to nurses, use the web such as Facebook and LinkedIn, etc...Let the world know you are looking for a job. And do not feel ashame in using every connection you have to get a job.I have a job offer in mental health and this is before I graduate. I met the nursing manager via a non-profit committee organizing an event. And I am from NY. Sure mental health isn't my first choice but it's better to be unemployed for the next year.
