I feel so bad.Rating: (votes: 0) i dont sleep well and dread going to work. does any one have advise on how to tell this manager i quit? i need help. fast. ![]() I'm a believer that important conversations, such as resignations, should be done in person if at all possible. Definately write a resignation letter. Give two weeks notice, but explain that you will understand if they do not want you to continue orientation. Also state this to your manager. Just explain that you are very sorry, but you are not a good fit for the position and you feel it would be best for everyone if you left now. Thank her for the opportunity to work there. Conversations like these are tough and can be scary, but remember that they rarely go as poorly as we anticipate. Good luck! Comment:
I think they were very generous to allow you back. Use your "feeling bad" to motivate you to be more responsible. You're going to run out of bridges to burn in no time if you keep this up.

I don't see why you would give a two week notice while on orientation. I would think it would be a waste of the facilities money to keep you on and train you for 2 weeks just to have you leave. It won't make you appear any better of an employee to give a notice. There was a reason you left and applied for this new job. The grass may not be greener on the other side.I am sure your old employer is taking note of your job ethics- new job on a leave, asking to come back to them after starting at the new facility. I don't think you are going to get off that easy, they may not make it a nice experience when you go back. Be prepared for that.

It's sounds to me like you are insecure when it comes to your work. You need to find a way to make yourself feel more confident in the work that you do. You went through schooling, passed the test. You made it! Why not feel good about the work you do and try not to worry too much. Alot of the time when someone worries so much on the job, they end up making more mistakes. So try to find some way to calm yourself down before work. It seems like you are skipping from job to job b/c of the fact you don't want to work at all. Sorry, not trying to sound harsh in any way, I am just stating how it sounds from your post. Even try speaking to someone you work with over this. There are many nurses out there that worry also, but they get by. If med/surg isn't your specialty, that is all fine, but what would you like to do as a nurse. What kind of job. I would think about all of these things before jumping into the next job that is willing to hire you. There are plenty of jobs, so you don't have to settle for any, but at least know what you are wanting to do as a nurse. Hope this helped.

Don't quit till you get rehired officially. You don't want to be without a job.

ashepard gave you the best response! Do not feel guilty that you quickly realized you are not a good fit for the job. Personally, I think you were a warm body when you were hired to the med-surg unit. Leave graciously and under good terms, offer to work the final 2 weeks. Next time when there are problems at work, try to hang on and offer to be a part of the solution instead of being so frustrated that you want to leave. And never burn bridges- you never know who you will work with in the future.

Quote from reddellrnmy rehab manager told me all i had to do was fill our a new application and turn it in to her, and i can start my regular shift next week on my days to work.

the only thing i'll add, is give the choice to your current employer...would they prefer for you to leave asap, or stay for another 2 weeks?the very least you could do, is try and accommodate your employer's needs/wishes.anything less, would be most ungracious, i.e., downright tacky.leslie

Whatever happens, if this is an internal transfer, your HR Dept will need to follow through and make sure the way you are transferred will fulfill the rules as well as needs of the units involved.

I think it is very mature of you to recognize that med/surg is not for you. Good luck!
