Not a big fan of phone interviews...

I had my first phone interview today and I'm not a big fan of it. I understand the purpose of them which is to screen before a person to person. I interact with people way better in person for some reason and feel more confident. A huge part of communication is body language and tone. I was quite nervous and I'm sure it showed. Oh well, only time will tell if the job is for me...
I am the complete opposite; I love phone interviews. Especially if they call while I am at home where I'm comfortable. I have a online document that I quickly open up when they call that has the hospital and unit info, my background and qualifications etc. Like a mini cheat sheet that obviously would never fly in person. In person interviews never bothered me but at this point of my job search I find myself getting nervous because so much is at stake and it may be my last opportunity.Try going into the phone interview with the mindset that it's a conversation rather than a Q&A. Also remember to smile while talking on the phone, I know it sounds weird but it can help with your tone of voice if you're nervous.

I wore a suit and tie to my first phone interview, I was a little confused that they weren't impressed by my appearance

I had one today and it was as bad as in person interviews! I hate interviewing, I am horrible at saying what I am thinking, without falling over my words. I did like that I could have a "cheat sheet" as it made it much easier to stay on track. Good luck, hopefully you are selected to move on!

I've become a fan, because that means I've at least made it past the first round of hoards of applicants. Like above posters I have a "cheat sheet" that includeds the the job specifications and the resume I submitted.

You could always take the "glass half full" approach- at least you HAD an interview, albeit a phone interview. That's MUCH more than many new grads are getting in this economy.

I like them when I'm prepared. I had one that caught me off guard and I flubbed it but the next time I was ready.

I had my first interview face to face, got tons of compliments from the interviewing panel, then did my second interview over the phone and bummed it! let's just say I never got the job oh well.
