what can I use my BSN outside of nursing?

1 Im thinking of getting out of nursing but dont know where I can use my degree outside the field. Has anyone done this before? Im completely dissatisfied with nursing. I dont see it being me. If I would have known what im getting myself into, I would have done something different other than nursing. I know of others who are waiting for the economy to get better so they can do something different. I dont think I can wait that long before I pull all my hair out of stress.
Most administrative jobs don't look at where you got your degrees from.If EAP (employee assistance program) service providers is sth you like, you might wanna apply to those places.They always hire coordinators, administrators.That's all I can think of, for now.Good luck with your transition.

I have a friend who felt the same way. She got her BSN and worked on the floor for a year then realized nursing wasn't for her. She has worked in pharmaceutical sales and is now in medical device sales and absolutely loves it. Perhaps this is an option for you.

auditor for documentation and coding, consulting, reviewer for accreditation (spelling?) organizations or even the state, educator for chronic conditions. Case management. Just a few ideas.

Go to graduate school in any field of your choice.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. Im just afraid that with this bad economy, those jobs might be hard to get into (as if nursing is easy to get into without experience).

employee health for a corporation. Insurance companies also hire nurses to help review claims. I worked for a large insurance company & I did a mentoring opportunity in those areas of the company. Plus they pay nicely

I understand the feeling. I wanna get out too. The worse part is I only have 3 months exp.I was thinking about waiting for the economy to turn around too. But what if it takes 10 years. I can't wait that long. I'm slowly losing my sanity.
