nursing conferences

Hi all, I have been an employed RN since 2011 Nov. Right now I work med/surge/tele unit and I aim to start a psych nurse career after about two years of experience with my current unit. My inquiry is concerning nursing conferences. I have joined ANA, TNA, and APNA. I would love to attend a conference. To those of you that have attended one, what are they generally like, what may I expect to take away from the experience? I know this question may sound silly, but I really am not sure what to expect and before I spend the money to travel, stay in a hotel and such, I am curious as to what a conference may be all about. Particularly I would like to attend a psychiatric conference, since I plan to begin a psych. nursing career soon. Any advice is welcomed and I thank you in advance!-mom35
Hello I graduated in May and just recently found out about Fort Duncan Hospital. I go out on Tuesday for a tour and an interview. I can not find anything in San Antonio I hope to hear more about your experience there. I too would like to go in psych.

Hi CMena. How is fort Duncan? Did you get accepted? I'm from CA trying to relocate and saw this hospital with a new grad. Your input will be appreciated.

Ft Duncan derails aside >.>I haven't been to a nursing conference yet, but I have been to a nursing research conference and it was awesome. I came away with connections, inspiration, and even more skills! I think they are worth the time if they aren't too expensive. Which one are you looking at going to?
